Savage Beauty

I feel fortunate to live in Manhattan for a myriad of reasons but one is my proximity to the Met. A few blocks away from me, where admission is 'suggested' and the art never ending, the Met calls my name every few weeks, luring me in to some undiscovered corner of wonder. Recently though, the Met screamed my name and I came running. This was to see Savage Beauty, the new Alexander McQueen exhibit.

I have long loved McQueen's perfectly eerie fashion and controversial runway shows. His aesthetic is like an erotic nightmare that is just so oddly beautiful, you don't want to wake up. This exhibit was no exception. To begin, whoever curated this deserves an award. The space was literally transformed in to a cavernous, haunting display of all his finest works. I was completely moved by all I saw. See some of my favorites below and if you can make it to the Met, run.
